Puerto de la Cruz is a city below La Orotava on the coast. I was surprised that the city’s population is only 30k, even less than La Orotava (42k), which is classified as a town. Puerto de la Cruz feels a lot more busy, probably because of the tourists.

The city’s palette consists of white, black and semi-transparent blue.

Other brighter colors are welcome too. It’s basically a paradise. I really like the big cactus.

The fortress resembles a face. Is it angry? Hard to say.

Castillo de San Felipe

Another reason why Puerto is busier is the port. I could’ve figured it out from the name.

Although there’s no sandy beach in the city center, but rocks, people still swim.

Swimming

But just nearby there’s a proper beach with black volcanic sand. Swimming was not allowed due to the waves.

Walking away from the coast, the usual high-rise buildings begin.

Residential area

An iconic element of every touristy city is a tourist train. An amusing contraption.
